Honoring Leo J. Ryan

Patricia Ryan, left, and U.S. Rep Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, embrace at the end of "The Legacy of Leo J. Ryan" video presentation. A Ceremony was held on Monday to rename the U.S. Post Office on Ellsworth Ave. in San Mateo after the congressman. Gunmen killed Ryan, three journalists and one Jonestown defector in 1978, shortly after the congressman visited the South American settlement founded by Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple. Speier, an aid to Ryan at the time, was shot five times in the attack.

Palo Alto Sea Scout Building

"Chris Perez, of the Kelley Brothers House Movers, relocates a pile of wood at the Palo Alto Baylands on Friday. Palo Alto’s historic 65-ton Sea Scout building is being hoisted and rolled 200 feet in preparation for its city-sponsored restoration as a headquarters for nonprofit Environmental Volunteers."

"A crowed of people watch as the Sea Scout building is being moved at the Palo Alto Baylands on Friday."

Sad but True

"Chet Smith, of East Palo Alto, gives a tour of his mobile home located in the Palo Mobile Estates in East Palo Alto on Friday. Smith, along with a group of residents is resisting a move to change the mobile parks status."

There are places like this all around the Bay Area and a lot of people are feeling the pinch. Changes with property management may drive this poor guy out of him home that he has lived in for years.

Back to the usual!

"Center, Diane Wilhelm, with Meaningful Charms, assists, left, Sue Galassi, of Novato, and, right, Donna Caldwell, of San Francisco, on Friday during the Harvest Festival Original Arts and Craft Show held at the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo through Sunday."

Finally back from vacation. Took a couple weeks off to spend it with my family and with my newborn, Alexandros. Here is one from the other day and there are more to come!
