A Ceremony was held on Monday to rename the U.S. Post Office on Ellsworth Ave. in San Mateo after the congressman. Gunmen killed Ryan, three journalists and one Jonestown defector in 1978, shortly after the congressman visited the South American settlement founded by Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple. Speier, an aid to Ryan at the time, was shot five times in the attack.
