Palo Alto Golf Course

"Seven-year-old Palo Alto resident Daniel Zhang, left, watches 5-year-old Mountain View resident Adora Wen sink a put at the Palo Alto Golf Course in Palo Alto on Thursday. Golfers took advantage of the good weather by hitting the green."

On a hunt for "wild art" I had to think on my feet and figure out what was not covered. Covering two counties can be very hart especially when you have two different papers to worry about.

"Palo Alto resident Mike Kern practices getting the ball out of sand traps."

With a few more assignments on my plate still to go, I decided to get a few golfing shots.

"Golfers use the driving range to practice their form."

Mercy High at PALY LAX

It has been a while since I have updated... but have been extremely busy and sick. These photos where taken a couple weeks back when Mercy Burlingame visited Palo Alto. This was one of two games I shot of Palo Alto and they seem to be a very good team!

If you would like to see more photos of this game visit this link:

"Gil Woolley, of Palo Alto, watches on Monday as a Caltrain picks up speed behind his Palo Alto home located on Mariposa Avenue. A group of Palo Alto residents plan to march against the California High-Speed Rail project which could require some property to be taken through eminent domain."

This should be a very interesting thing to follow! I know I would not even want a train in my back yard let alone a high speed strain!

Oak Tree

"Palo Alto Public Works employees clear an oak tree on Monday that fell on a home on the 1000 block of Emerson Street in Palo Alto. The incident occurred Sunday night and caused some damage to the house, power lines, and a car. No one was injured."

Been a while since I put some news photos so here are a few from the last few days! I hope you enjoy! Comments are always welcome!

Sanford vs Air Force

To purchase photos for editorial use visit: http://zumapress.com/

I shot the Stanford vs Air Force Mens basketball game today (Wednesday). It has been a while since I covered basketball but was able to jump back into the grove.

Now it was not a very high energy game since the Cardinals pulled ahead by 19 winning the game 76-57.

Palo Alto’s historic 65-ton Sea Scout building is being hoisted and rolled 200 feet in preparation for its city-sponsored restoration as a headquarters for nonprofit Environmental Volunteers."

Prop 11

"Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger speaks about Proposition 11 on Thursday at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto. The Governor along with Former State Controller Steve Westly, Local Bay Area Leaders, AARP and Healthcare Professionals urged Californians to support Proposition 11."

The Governator made his way down to Palo Alto recently to endorse Prop 11.

Palo Alto Midtown

"Left, Keiren Hanay, 8, of Palo Alto, and his sister, Kaitlin, 7, box with giant gloves on Saturday in Palo Alto during the 3rd annual Midtown Festival."

Palo Alto recently held its annual Midtown festival. Not to sure I came at the right time but had no time to stick around and see if that was the case. Here is my favorite photo of the assignment.

"Barry Farley, of Fallbrook, holds a glass blowing demonstration on Friday at the Palo Alto Art Center. The art center is holding its 13th Annual Great Glass Pumpkin Patch and will sell the art over the weekend. For more information on the event visit: www.greatglasspumpkinpatch.com."

Today we where lacking art for our Palo Alto paper and what better than to fill it with glass pumpkins.

Civil Air Patrol

The Civil Air Patrol in Palo Alto held an open house Tuesday to showcase their new plane.

"Captain Philip Blank explains how the planes controls work on Tuesday at the Palo Alto airport. The Civil Air Patrol held an open house to introduce their new Cessna 182 aircraft assigned to Group 2, California Wing, serving the greater Bay Area."

Hearing aid

"Ron Hiskes, of Palo Alto, enjoys his iPod he can now listen too with headphones instead of plugging in speakers on Friday at his Palo Alto home. Hiskes, among others are among the first in the country to try out a new invisible hearing aid."

Crazy! the new technology that these companies are coming out with... invisible hearing aid? I remember those old funky looking aids that where so ugly!

$700 BILLION Bail Out

"Raging Grannies member Mery Guedon, of Redwood City, protests against bailouts at Lytton Plaza on Thursday in Palo Alto. People across the peninsula protested against the $700 billion bailout presented to congress by President Bush."

Man, $700 billion is a lot of cash... where the heck to they get this money? I thought we owe trillions of dollars? I know we owe billions to China! I am not very good with economics and stuff so I can't say this is a good thing they are doing. Here they are cutting funds for schools that we NEED but want to bail out corporations with overspending to bay their CEO's big bucks. Greet with money is not a good thing and what goes up must come down.

Bloodmobile

"Assistant Training Supervisor Geoffrey Belanger gives a tour for the Sanford Blood Center’s new bloodmobile on Saturday in Palo Alto."

Another day another assignment, and this time is was the bloodmobile.

"Martha Castillo, of Palo Alto, takes a peek inside the Sanford Blood Center’s new bloodmobile on Saturday in Palo Alto."

Now just the thought about donating blood just freaks me out... doing it on a bus... well I dont think so. Now if some one NEEDED my blood and I had a very rare blood type well then I will give them my blood... but I dont think we will be running out of 0+ any time soon??? I hope..

Gentle Hands

"Zohar Dance Studio Art Director Ehud Krauss helps 4-year-old Amelie Rausch, of Mountain View, stretch her feet on Thursday in Palo Alto. The studio held a dance class for children with Cerebral Palsy. For more information and class schedules visit www.zohardancecompany.org."

Man was I in a pinch today with one of our editions not having a photo.

I made a quick scan through some websites and came across this dance class for Cerebral Palsy children.

The art director was nice and so where the parents and allowed me to take some photos.

I do have to admit. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people are tying to tell me how to take photos... just had to through that out there.

The class brought a lot of joy to the kids and to the parents who stuck around and danced a long with their kids.

Where there is a will there is a way...

"Palo Alto police officers and the corners office investigate the scene where 35-year-old David Hahn, of Palo Alto, was found deceased on Tuesday afternoon in Palo Alto."

The last thing I want to see during the day is a dead body, but I have a job to do. I got a call about some one found dead in Palo Alto today and they wanted me to go photograph it. I get on scene and there are bushes all over and no way to see whats going on. Now what should I do I asked my self... I can't see the police, I can't get and interesting angle from down here.

I then saw an apartment with roof access and made my way up the stairs. I get to the top and it was locked. I then made my way down and knocked on a door... and lucky me with the first try the couple had let me in their apartment and allowed me to shoot down to the scene.

Never be discouraged to ask and to push to get what you need because where there is a will there is a way...

Heart Condition

"A student rides her bike by a small memorial put up near the intersection of Embarcadero Road and El Camino Real at Palo Alto High School on Tuesday for Travis Brewer who passed away due to a heart condition on Monday."

I think it is very sad when young people pass away. About a year ago I lost my cousin who was 24. I can't even imagine how the parents of the child feel.

Soccer Wars

"Palo Alto’s oldest soccer club, Harmonie, warms up prior to their game on Saturday in Palo Alto. The soccer club managed to get some time on the field to host a local soccer club tri-team competition calling it the “Palo Alto Cup.” The games are intended to help highlight the competitive soccer clubs in Palo Alto while continuing quest to regain field time slots."

There is a few soccer clubs in Palo Alto that have been around for a while now.

And with more leagues for younger kids and women sprouting up these teams have a hard time getting slots to practice.

It is important to practice for any sport you play... without practice, you can't get better.
